The Lady Wranglers had their second home game of the season vs. the Pike Panthers on Thursday night. All 3 teams have made so much improvement and the coaches are so proud of all the heart and hustle that have been displayed already throughout the season. The C team started the night off really strong winning their first set 25-17. All players contributed and played great. The second game was a bit tougher and missing a few key serves hurt the Lady Wranglers and the C team fell short with a score of 21-25. The girls went to a third game, which is a first for them, and the pressure set in. Even though the girls continued to play with heart, the team fell short in the end. Overall, not a bad game for the Lady Wranglers, but we definitely want to work on more pressure situations during practice time this week to get ready for our game at Timberview next week. Player of the game this week goes to Ruth Mathews for stepping up and playing all the way around and being quick on her feet in some key situations at the net.

The B team stepped on the court next and were searching for their first win of the season. All players looked hungry for the win, but the Pike Panthers had some strong serves that made the B team nervous and second guess their moves and passing on the court. Taliah Ellis was a leader on the court for her team and stepped up with some amazing serves and court hustle. Rachel Choi was also a nice addition to the team last night and had some great serves and good plays on defense. Overall, not their best game, but saw some great things happen and start coming together for these girls and can’t wait to see what they are able to accomplish in the week’s to come.

A team showed up ready to make this their best game of the season. Working on on/off net transitions all week really paid off on the court. We were able to read where the ball was coming from as well as having a strong defense. The pace was set at each point with a great pass to target. Yocelyn Gomez was a real presence on the court playing all the way around. She had great defensive passes and net play. Ameya Kella showed us the strength at the net with great hits and coverage. We are excited to see even more progression of skill next week as we travel to Timberview.
