The 7th grade Lady Wrangler volleyball teams had their second home game on Thursday night against one of their cross-town rivals, the North Cougars. The C team started the night off strong and came out with a high level of intensity. Being the first team to face a rival at home can be a pretty nerve-racking feat, but the Lady Wrangler C Team did not let nerves overcome them. Although they were not ultimately able to secure a win, the C team played an incredible game and fought hard until the end. They scored over 20 points in each game and made North work hard for each point they earned. The players of the game were Nataizya Gandhle for her strong serves under pressure and Tapasya Shah for her incredible passing throughout the game.

The B team hit the court fired up and ready to play. They started the game off with high intensity and great energy. The Cougars had a couple of runs by some strong servers that helped them get off to an early lead, but the Lady Wranglers did not get discouraged and continued to fight.

Although the Cougars took home the win, the Lady Wranglers played a great game. They had several great rallies and encouraged one another relentlessly throughout the game. The players of the game were Spruha Mudgalkar for her leadership in the setter position and Rachana for her grit and positive attitude throughout the game.

The 7th grade A team came out fighting, having a great come-back with 5 strong serves to take the lead by 1 point in the middle of the set, then went back and forth with the Cougars, only to fall short in the end after one server had 3 strong serves in a row. The girls never gave up though, and that was something to be proud of. The second set proved to be a different beast in itself. One of our players left the game with an injury and after making several changes to the lineup and throwing some new offensive strategies at the girls in a quick time-out, the girls tried their best to make it all work. However, the Lady Wranglers fell short to the Cougars in the end. Overall, a lot of great moments and plays to be proud of and the Lady Wranglers plan to use this learning opportunity to get better for next week’s game at Wilson Middle School. Players of the game for this week went to Addison Hatfield and Esha Polishetty for being open to trying new things and making the best of the situation for their team.

Although the Wranglers did not bring home a win this week, they have so much to be proud of after this week’s games.
